Spell Checking

Many dialogs in GSAK have spell check buttons. Examples include: User notes, User logs, Cache name, Short description, Long description, Hints, Child waypoint description, Child waypoint comments.

The spell checker ships with the English American dictionary but other dictionaries are available for download from  http://gsak.net/spell.php

Ignore - this means that this single instance of the word won't be marked as misspelt even though it can't be found within the dictionaries attached.
Ignore All - this means that all occurrences of this word won't be marked as misspelt even though it can't be found within the dictionaries attached
Change - this means that this single instance of the word will be changed to the selected correct word.
Change All - this means that all occurrences of this word will be changed to the selected correct word.
Add - this means that the word is spelt correctly and needs to be Added to the Custom Dictionary, thus ensuring that it will be recognized in the future as a correctly-spelt word.
Auto Correct - gives you the same words as in the first section, but when you select one then this will be added to the Auto Correct dictionary - which means when you type the misspelling in the future it will automatically replace it with the chosen word.
Undo - restores the last spell check action performed and re selects the previous misspelt word (if possible).  This button can be pressed multiple times to undo multiple operations.
Options - opens the Spell Checker Options Dialog.
Help - displays this file.
Cancel - aborts the spell checking.

Options:

Ignore Words in UPPERCASE - when checked, this forces the spellchecker to skip any words completely in uppercase.  This can be useful for ignoring abbreviations.
Ignore Words Containing Numbers - when checked, this forces the spelling checker to skip any words that may contain one or more numeric characters.  This can also be somewhat detrimental if a numeric key was pressed instead of a character by mistake.
Ignore markup languages (HTML, XML, etc) - when checked, this forces the spellchecker to skip any HTML tags encountered (i.e. text between opening and closing angle brackets).
Ignore Internet addresses - when checked, this forces the spelling checker to skip any e-mail addresses or world wide web addresses found in the document.
Ignore abbreviations - when checked, this ignores abbreviations like "I.B.M." - i.e. when "." separate single characters.
Prompt on repeated words - when checked, this treats duplicated words, like "the the" as a spelling mistake and offers to correct it to a single occurrence of the word.
Automatically correct DUal Caps - when checked, this will automatically correct words where the first two letters are capitals - thus if you type "THis" it will be changed to "This". Only works in controls where spelling is supported.

Dictionaries

The ListView shows the currently available main dictionaries.  If the checkbox next to the dictionary is checked, then that dictionary is used in spell checking. You can have more  than one dictionary active at any time.

Custom Dictionary

The combobox allows you to choose which Custom Dictionary is used for Adding New Words and New Autocorrects.  If you have Microsoft Word installed GSAK will search for the Word custom dictionary and share that one, otherwise a new one will be created. Only one custom dictionary can be used for adding new items. Unfortunately, the Microsoft custom dictionary is read only.

The Dictionaries button brings up the Custom Dictionary Dialog that allows you to choose which Custom Dictionaries you want active. Like Main Dictionaries, you can have several Custom Dictionaries being active. This Dialog also allows you to Edit Custom Dictionaries.

Remaining Buttons

Reset Defaults - This sets all the above options to their factory settings.
Help - displays this file.
OK - exits this dialog.
